Industries in law and public relations (such as Edelman PR and the Gibson Dunn law firm that orchestrated my private prosecution and detention) engage in massive work to "greenwash" misconduct by the Exxons and Chevrons of the world that is destroying all of the earth's ecosystems. Similarly, I believe the New York Times and other newspapers should refuse further advertising from the fossil fuel industry just as many media outlets have done with the tobacco and firearms industries. The article in the Washington Post shows hundreds of scientists demanding immediate action by Edelman and other firms to stop helping the oil industry delay solutions to the climate crisis. Edelman profits by helping the American Petroleum Institute, Exxon, and other fossil fuel giants infect our thinking. This type of leadership by the scientists is the most effective path left to generate pressure to save our planet; we must continue to build these citizen movements.
