Powerful Front Covers

2 of the best this week

It’s not every day that we see courage from mainstream publications to take a stand on issues that are uncomfortable and polarising. This week I take my hat off firstly to Australia’s The Age for tackling the elephant in the room in the wake of sports star and Australian-of-the-Year recipient Adam Goodes’ final ultimatum to racist behaviour in the sports arena; and secondly to the New York Times for banding together the alleged victims of Bill Cosby whose recent revelations are proving their accusations true. In both instances, Adam and the women represent those vilified for making a stand. In all cases, they were punished with ridicule. But for these papers who dared to put the issues front and centre, they have my respect. It’s not going to be comfortable but let’s open the box. Let’s go there. And let’s all deal with it.
